Control How the Light Gets In
Advanced technology for the environment, privacy and personal safety.
The buildings where we spend our days – from our homes to office buildings and schools – have ever larger windows designed to provide light. However, windows that focus on incoming light are archaic and lack compatibility with energy efficiency, privacy, and safety.
To provide adjustable visibility while simultaneously customizing the interior space light exposure, AlphaMicron has introduced a number of dynamic new window options that can be integrated into the window itself, or applied as a film onto the window. Our patented innovations in this area include:
- Windows that alter their solar heat gain coefficient. An ideal feature for zero-energy buildings, AlphaMicron has invented a switchable film that can be retrofitted to an existing window to provide low power and/or solar-cell powered instantaneous control over the tint of the window.
- Windows that alter color, and thereby the lighting in the room, to match the user’s needs
- Windows that tint darker or become opaque to provide increased privacy as-needed
- Exterior films, paints or materials that can reflect sunlight during summer months and absorb sunlight energy in winter to reduce a building’s energy requirements.
- A switchable one-way mirror that can be used on existing windows to instantly react to security concerns such as active shooter situations, with multiple unit and remote control options. See a prototype video HERE. One-Way Mirror – school security controlled with Alexa
